Treatment tank size

What is the smallest tank you would recommend as a temporary treatment tank for any cichlid between 6-10"?
Could you put a 10" red devil in a fully cycled 20 gallon for 1 week?
Just wondering what people do when they don't want to dose a larger aquarium?
Appreciate anyone who has had success on using a small aquarium for a short time period.
I do realize that you shouldn't feed much food in a small aquarium to keep waste products to a minimum and use a air stone as well.

I personally would say a 40b, small enough to where it's easy to treat but not small enough to where the fish is even more stressed out and subsequently makes the disease progress further. That's bare minimum though imo.
