Anyone has experience with this species? Cordylus is almost inaccessible and this seems like a viable substitute that I would like to get in the future. I have been reading up on the few care sheets, all state that they require high humidity, good swimmers and burrowers, and low temperatures. Two questions.

My country has a temperature of about 26 degrees celsius in a room, how should I go about lowering this? The humidity here is incredibly high by the way.

They need a burrowing substrate, peat, topsoil ETC. Do you suppose that there are risks of impaction? If so, how should I avoid it? Feeding in a separate container may work, but they are rather skittish and unlikely to feed in a insecure area.

Thanks for any input!

As far as the room temp, you could get a small single room portable air conditioner.

Love the red-eye croc skinks, didn't know there was an orange-eyed version.

Sorry, wrong place for a thread. Actually, both are the same species though there is another crocodile skink species occasionally available. I would like to have an air conditioner but fact remains that I do not have the budget to pay for something like that. I am hoping for a cheaper solution. Would fogging and misting, and putting the tank under a table help to cool down the temps?

You could try setting up a fan that blows across the enclosure, and that might help cool it down a few degrees. Misting should also help to cool it down a bit.

Okay, that might work better. Is it possible to achieve 20 degrees celsius at night?
