I had a dream wherein I was in a flowerhorn store, and they had "hybrid Gouramis". The ones in my dream were Colisa lalia x osphronemus goramay (which I assume is totally impossible and ridiculous)
but then I got thinking about the idea.
Did some research and found that Trichogaster and osphronemus
are pretty close genetically, or at least the most similar genus to osphronemus in the gorami complex.
So I was thinking,
would this be possible?
I'm only encouraging people to think about this,
I'm not looking for a lot of people to say "no" without giving it a little thought.
Young female osphronemus goramay and larger male 3 spot Trichogaster t., in a large tank (like 125 or so, jungle biotope, 1/3 or so filled with water (or just to a good min. depth for breeding).
I think Its worth a shot.
anyone want to try it as well?
I'm thinking giant blue goruamy would be an instant hit in chinatown.
