Hey I got a 3" mbu. I've been stuffing its face with some sorta Filipino river snail that my dad raises for food. Anyways i would like to get it to eat hikari sinking carnivore or food sticks. Any suggestions???

You could probably get your Mbu to take pellets but the problem I see is two-fold: First, they will still need some type of prey with a hard component to it (which it sounds like already are offdering...), in order to keep the teeth ground down but more importantly, the sheer volume of pellets you would need to shovel into the tank as your fish grows would get pretty ridiculous. It just seems like an impractical food supply for this fish. I own a large Mbu, by the way, so am speaking from personal experience.

Best of luck with yours.

You should not be pellet training your puffer anyway, much less a Mbu. You should be feeding clams, crayfish, shrimp, things like that.

ok just wanted to get it some extra nutrition. Well good thing freshwater shellfish is very abundant here (f/w clams, crayfish, snails, shrimp)
