Tricks to prevent Jardini's from "snapping"?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No way. It will be mellow ( very rarely.) or not.

With me it works with doible sized fish. And i introduced the jar last.

Some have other theories and swear by them.

The best way to prevent a snap is to keep it alone. It can't snap if there is nothing to snap on.

Keeping them away from live food is my move. I find that an arowana that eats pellets is usually not as bad as one raised on live prey.

i never heard any jar that doesn't show aggression.maybe you can keep it with some tough bottom dweller like armored catfish.or you can try keep it with tankmates in large number, cause i usually watch that a jar when still in petstore, they usually keep with large number of fish and the jar rarely bother the other fish.i don't know if my theory is wrong though

Never had a jar that didn't snap. Every one snapped. I raised them from 2" on prep foods. Hand fed them bloodworms from my fingertips. Housed with every kind of fish from payaras to African cichlids. Every one snapped.

I guess im just lucky, I got my Jardini at 20" and he hasnt ever touched any of his tankmates, ranging from Bichirs, my baby 4" megaladoris irwini cat, or even some 5" indo dats thath would swim around with him.

The only thing he is aggressive to is my poodle. When she runs by the tank the Jar goes crazy trying to get her.
