Tricky way to get more filtering

Got a nutrient problem, and looking for a temporary quick fix? Then don't clean your glass. That's right. The periphyton that grows on your glass absorbs lots of nutrients (that's what makes it grow), so by letting it stay there and get thicker, you remove more nutrients out of the water.

This is probably most useful for smaller tanks.

I usually only wipe algae from the front of the tanks for this very reason

I prefer ponds, with no glass, so that nothing needs to be wiped at all.

U get better growth and colors in ponds as well.

I got a 6 foot "bare bottom" probably almost 6 months worth of algae on the bottom. Never touched it, and kinda like the look.

I only wipe down the front to view bc im too lazy to wipe down the rest.....but this is a plus hahah
