Hey guys, i can use some help. I decided to move my hystrix into my motoro setup to get it more social. When catching it to relocate it, it's spine got caught in the net and the only way I was able to free it was to grab some pliers and pull it free from the net.

The Rays tail is bleeding where the spine is and I'm concerned. The spine is still attached but there was clearly some trauma when I tried to free it from the net. It's bleeding at the base of the spine.

Will it recover quickl or am I in trouble? I'll be heading out of town later this week and now I'm worried. Please advise.

salt and clean water it will heal.. that being said get a rubber net and if it happens again before cut the barb not pull it... they are essentially like finger nails.. no damage cutting it but a lot when trying to pull out.

Thanks guys. He is stressed out and I feel terrible. I hope it feeds as I'm trying to get them fat before I go on vacation.

Thanks guys. He is out and about now. He is clmbing all over the bigger rays.

Their tails are like cartilage that doesn't repair. At worst he will lose part of his tail, but death is unlikely unless from secondary infection.
