Not sure if anyone here does this.. But I have 8 cichla 5 at 6". And 3 at 4". They are divided. The 5 were on silverside I tried everything to get on pellets, starving them, stuffing silversides, crushing pellets into powder, mixing with bloodworms ect. So other day I tried just putting some silverside Ina cup with warm water and putting some jumbo carnivore sticks by hikari in the cup. After a min or 2 I dumped one at a time in the tank an they all attacked the pellets instantly. So I did that for about 3 days and today I just tried pellets dry as is. An they all ate them! I was shocked finally... Just figured I would share since all cichla are diff and some are stubborn this worked for me.

My cichla were very stubborn an no method worked. So what I did was defrost frozen silversides in a cup with warm water. ( because that's what they usually eat ). Then once defrosted I put a couple hikari jumbo carnivore sticks in the cup with the warm water an silverside. After about 2 mins of soaking up the water and fish juice in the cup with a spoon I took one pellet out at a time an dropped into the tank. I got splashed with water immediately an they were nailing the pellets. After about 3 days of doing this I said hey what the heck let me try to just throw in the pellets one at a time as is right out of bag an they all ate them no problem. But it seems they only eat right now if I drop in one at time they like the competition. If I throw on too many pellets at once they are not interested yet so I will try that for few days and go from there .

Maybe if that's the problem try starving a couple of days get them hungry then put a few in at once! Since they should be hungry and now tht they accept pellets it should work

I have two adult monos that eat pellets. One will only eat them when they first hit the water, the other will eat them wherever they are. I have to feed the picky one directly and the other works as the clean up crew.
