About a month and a half ago I bought an Oscar from petsmart because everyday I went to work I could tell he was getting a little less healthy and finally had gotten a spot of HITH on the side of his face and his fins got torn up, otherwise a beautiful fish. Well I put in the time to keep him, got his fins fixed up and the Hith was starting to clear away, but It was getting to the point where I couldn't really get my GT who I had longer than the O enough to eat, so I decided that I would rehome the fish.
The Fish store that I usually go to typically has really healthy looking fish, and I typically see the right combos of fish together, so I thought it would be a good place to take him. I went yesterday, which was only 7 days after I had traded the poor little guy in. He was in a 55 gallon with a 9" Jag, 8" albino channel cat, and 10" Leoprinus, had fins torn all to hell, and HITH all the way down his sides...
I pray somebody with some sympathy comes in and buys him with the proper medication to fix him up.. I just can't stop thinking about it every time I look at my tank...
I feel so bad, and I'm feeling like I did the wrong thing... Some employee put the Jag in the wrong tank, so I don't feel that it was the owner's fault... I just felt awful seeing that fish like that...
