I plan on getting a trimac from jeff rapps in a couple of months, i plan on putting it with my female dovii in a 100g 6' tank. I was trying to find out some information about them? Also could i see some pictures of peoples trimac?

Scroll down, "gnunance" posted pics of a beauty and "dk66gt" posted pics of one of the best I’ve seen in awhile. As far as info goes, Google Amphilophus Trimaculatus on the internet and you'll find enough to get you started. They are very territorial, do not generally accept tank mates and males get about 14” on average +/- a couple of inches depending on how you care for them. Trimacs are one of the most aggressive Ciclids around, To mix one with a Dovii IMO is asking for one dead fish unless you have a huge aquarium. 100 gal isn’t close to being big enough for them both. If you really want a Trimac get rid of or re-home the Dovii and put the Trimac in the 100 buy itself. This is a fish with a bad adittude.

Ow ok I was lead to believe by a few people that it would work. I wasn't sure if it would work. What would be a good tankmate than?

no tank mates except dithers. Your talking about a fish that pound for pound is one of the more aggressive fish. If you do a 200g+ it could be possible, but if you get a male then having him tolerate even convicts or a pleco will be a problem in a 100g. Just stick with the Trimac, he will be enough fish for one tank.

I have a female dovii and not a trimac. I was thinking about getting a trimac. I was wondering what could go with her in a 6' 100g tank. She has breed with a jag before I got her.

Ya I don't want a male cause I don't have the right size tank. Would it b possible for her to breed with a male jag again since she did before?

No tankmates in that size tank.Just not enough territory.Personally I would find a home for the Dovii, unless You can get a bigger tank.Anyways trimac are highly aggressive.

Ok that's what I was wondering. I am going to keep the convict cause I'm getting a 150g for my Oscar community tank and I already have a 125g sa community so the dovii is going in the 100g. I don't need another huge tank.
