Trimac Owners!!!

the biggest trimac ive owned was an 11" female. it was 2 1/2 years old and one of the THICKEST cichlids ive seen. i got it at 1", gave it away at 6", and got it back once it was already huge.
i raised a female to 2" to 10.5" a few years ago, it took it 4 years to get that big.
my current male is now 10.5". i dont remember when i got him, less than a year and a half...?

yeah but only fish that are equally robust in nature and size, i have a juvie trimac in a growout tank with a juvie red terror and 2 juvie dovii's, at the moment it's the boss, and i love him lol...will post pics when he gets bigger@!
in a big enough tank, they make great community cichlids.
IME they are usually near the top of the pecking order. in my 240g grow out tank, my most recent female trimac was dominant at 6", fallowed by a 10" dovii, and 6" paratilapia. in my 600g it gave me no problems at all, usually just dug pits towards the back or was chilling in a cave.

he's probably 10" SL now. I got him at about 6" and I want to say he was over a year old at the time. I've had him for just over a year now. he hasn't been growing as much length wise lately but he's definitely getting thicker. the only fish I've owned that was as thick (actually thicker) at the same length was the male festae I used to have.
How do you sex trimacs? I'm really hoping that mine is male as the seller had indicated. If not, I'd be 
I have a 14" Trimac, he is about 3 years old. His lower jaw was broken by a slightly smaller Red Devil when he was about 12", now he no longer fights with anyone.
