Trimac With Black Spot Sexing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's the only way I can get them lol

I get too close, it shoots to a hiding spot. So I have to pretend to look at the tank across from that trimac and zoom in
I shoot with a Nikon DLSR and love taking pictures. It does 4k video and I’ve been slowly playing around with that and trying to learn how to edit videos to upload to mine. I’m subbed to your YouTube channel and the song used in your last video was pretty funny.

Thx lol. Yea I was walking by and had to double take. That lyonsi was supposed to hit the 210 but he's in a growth spurt at the moment and is wayyyyyy bigger than the jag and vieja. Didn't wanna chance it. They've stopped the Indian dance for now, lol

The pics in post 4 and 5 look male to me, but it hard to tell with such bright/white subtrate.
Most cichlids will wash out if the substate and rockwork is light, to try to blend in with their surroundings.
For example, below is a N haitiensus over white sand substrate.

below, same male in a tank with more natural sand dubstrate

Just the way the lighting is too. I had to take the pic from a distance and zoom. It's PFS. I'm gonna try and vent tonight when I do the water change

The vent is triangulated like a males would be, but it is significantly bigger than the anus, and it’s plump looking. I feel the angle and the focus of the last pic is telling as well. I’m calling female.
Disclaimer; I have years of experience venting African cichlids, very little experience w CA/SA cichlids 🫣

I'll try again during next weeks water change. I don't wanna stress it out anymore than what it is. I wanna say female too, but if it's definitely a male I wanna pull the female out the 125 and put her in a divided tank with a male.

I know how hard it is to get a 1 handed, in focus pic of the vent 😅
Do you have anyone that can take the pic while you hold the fish?
