Can anyone with experience keeping trimacs tell what the growth rate is of these fish. Any other info such as what size they will begin to breed, prefered foods etc.

mine went from 1.5 inches to over 9 now since November 08 in a 265 gallon with weekly water changes and a VERY varied diet of market shrimp, mealworms, earthworms, crickets, cichlid gold, bloodworms & cichlid sticks.
He is the biggest pig of an eater of any fish ive ever had and will try and take every drop of food I put in the tank, which has made me spread the food from one end of the tank to the other. He has eaten three 5" shrimp in one sitting, before I figured out the best way to get food to the others.
He has been aggressive since I got him and only quit harassing everyone once I put my bigger male festae with him, but I have a felling, with the trimacs growth rate almost double what the festaes is, the trimac will be the king of the tank again by summers end, unless my dovii grows a pair and defends himself.

mine went from 2.5" in march to 6" now. the female was probably 2" in march and is now 4.5". they just bred a few weeks ago. i feed them shrimp, bloodworms, hikari bio gold and jumbo tetra cichlid sticks.
Thanks for the replies.I got a group of 7 of these ranging from 1" to 2". At what size can they be sexed.
