Trimming cichlid's tail to promote growth?

Has anyone ever tried or heard about trimming split tails to promote new growth? The reason I ask is some of my specimens have split tails from being nipped by the others and it's NOT growing back. I don't want my fish to reach full size with split fins lol it ruins the look. All comments are welcome thank you

I've never heard of this and I can't imagine this thread will go well I'd be intrigued if this is something that works/is done.

No...try increasing w/c schedule or adding aquarium salt. Can't imagine cutting on a fishes tail in hopes of repairing a damaged caudal fin.

Yes, heard of it. Usually with larger "monster" fish. Seems a bit hit and miss but I've seen instances where it works well.

If its cichlids, they always heal up, my festae fought with my gourami when I first got him, got a tear, and it was gone in like a week.
they repair quickly if the water is good and they are not stresed (i seperated them)

I've done it before had a cichlid that has some knots in the tail spines from being bent. I cut it off with a razor blade and it grew back perfect.

I've done this on satanoperca and a panda urau, plecos, flagtails, arowanas, and barbs and all with great success.

So is it recommended? Two of my gorillus blue have split fins as seen in the pictures and they are not growing back at ALL!!!
