OK, so I have an aquarium that will be behind a wall. I am replacing a trimless 45g with a regular black trimmed aga 45g. I fear that the black trim may "peek" out of the moulding from the front since the previous aquarium was trimless. Can I cut the black plastic trim using a blade or a dremel on the front of the tank to reduce how thick it is without eliminating the purpose (strength) of the trim?

It is tough to explain, but basically cut on the red lines, making the trim not as thick.

Now, being less thick, i suspect it is more likely to break at the corners, but I do not know. I know that if I asked AGA they would say anything I do to the trim would void warranty and they do not recommend it. But I wanted to know what others thought.

Thanks.

I talked to another person in the aquarium industry/hobby and they agree as well that cutting it would weaken the corners and the tank. I think I am going to replace the molding if the black trim shows.
