This is just a small photo journal of my first trip to ACA
I am certain now that it will not be my last!
We started out leaving Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada at about 6:30 on Monday, July 27th. The drive to Fargo, ND was un-eventfull, stopped for some Mexican and got back on the road towards Minneapolis. This leg was also easy, just a stop for fuel and kept on trucking. . .
At about 5am the following morning, somewhere near the Wisconsin Dells, the low tire pressure light came on (I know, I know, we were in an 07 Escalade
) Tire fixed in Madison, then a 2 hour detour through the back woods of Wisconsin (stupid GPS) LOL
We finally arrived in Chicago shortly before noon, we have now been on the road for about 18 hours, I finally had a chance to pull out the camera when we got to the Shedd Aquarium, there were some really cool exhibits, but, the fish in general didn't look as well cared for as I expected - ALL over fed. Here are the first pics from the Shedd/Field Museaum . . .
Our next stop, after spending the night in a Super8 with blood stains on the room door was Indianapolis, a quick lunch with Charley Grimes - one of the best guys you have ever met, if you haven't met him, you should
Here is a quick shot of he and I, please take note of the pink aquarium just above his right shoulder . . .
Charley's was great, the pulled pork was FANTASTIC, but, we had to more on. . . Louisville, Kentucky here we come. Since I was riding with Spencer, we decided to scoot over to drop in on Rusty Wessel, another of the nicest guys you have ever met, his fish room is almost perfect. . . he just needs some tank lights LOL I got a few fish pics in there as well as a couple of the crew on the trip, enjoy. . .
(me on the left, John on the right)
(Rusty on the left, Biggs on the right)
We got to Cincinnati from Louisville no problem, the hotel was great and I finally arrived at my first ACA. The next adventure was the Newport Aquarium, I was quite impressed with this aquarium, the fish were for the most part in great condition and there were more exhibits than I expected, a couple random fish. . .
(almost 4' RTC!!!)
I have stacks of random shots from the show, but, I thought I would cut to the chase and show the funniest part of the trip. . . ELVIS showed up at the banquet, I'm not sure why, but, we had to take piles of pics of him with EVERYONE
here are a few of those pics (may have more to show)
Got home this morning (Monday, August 3rd) at 8:42am, we covered 2722.3 miles (4381.3KM) and had WAAAAAY to little sleep. . .
Thanks to everyone I met there and those that I didn't have a chance to meet there for making this whole trip very memorable and successful! Please feel free to comment - can't wait to hear how your ACA was in 2009
