Datnoid Island
Figured I might as well fire a shot in the dark on one of my dream fish what with members inquiring about various eels and lampreys lol...The Tripletail looks very much like a Datnioides of some kind but it is a saltwater fish.Just wondering if anyone has tried keeping them?

No one hunh?

I've kept them and sold them in the past, very neat fish, they don't move at all in fish tanks, juts hang side ways like a leaf when they are small. They're very widely distributed over the world. Also saw some in a public aquarium in Japan last month, pretty neat fish.

The NOAA in Florida reports that there is interest in culturing this species as a prospective food fish. This could lead to an easier availability for the hobby.

Here are a few adult test-culture specimens begging for food:

Interesting information...Wes tell us more about your experiences with them.

Thing looks like a SW ctenopoma, but they also look like dats to me too. I've caught them fishing down in Texas before. Or something very near off the dock at Galveston island. Neat fish, it would be cool to have something like that commonly available to the SW side of things
