When I kept and bred tropheus I used to buy several different brands as long as they contained spirulina. As they grew into adulthood I would mix the spirulina flake with other forms of cichlid flakes. About 75% spirulina mix to 25% the regular mix.
The big key is to not have them on a heavy protein diet. This will bloat them since the have longer than normal intestines.
But when they are in the wild they do eat small crustaceans and the like
so I believe that they should have a small amount in there diet.
Stay away from blood worms, glass worms and the like especially when young,
