I have a juvenile that has stopped eating the past couple of days. He is usually a voracious eater but didn't even come up to the top of the tank today? Several days ago I started to notice that he would take the pellets in his mouth but then quickly spit them out, and today, no interest at all.

He has also stopped being active. He shows no signs of stress or injury and his color is still vibrant?

Anyone with any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Mike,

What should I use, never had bloat before? Have kept them more than 15yrs and never a problem with Tropheus?

This little guy is one of favorites, don't want to lose him!

One other note, he shows absolutely no sign of bloat, he looks just like he always does?

Get some Metro, or clout both work, is the fish blown up like a small balloon? Another sign is white stringy feces.

The little guy's body is symmetrical and just as he always is. I haven't seen any of his feces and I have been on quite a vigil. I have moved him to a hospital tank and will start treatment.

Appreciate your help!

lower the meat content of the diet and raise the vegatable intake, they are vegatarians by trade

His diet consists of Spirulina flake and every once in awhile I feed him/her some NLS pellets.

Update: I have moved him/her to a 15g tank, raised the temp a couple of degrees to a max of 84 in a couple of days. Added a tablespoon and 1/2 of epsom salt. I have my finger's crossed.

I sincerely appreciate everyone's thoughts, ideas, and help!

He or she is my daughter's favorite little fish...and I have a soft spot for him too! Daughter named the Tropheus "Squirt".
