Where are you? My neighbor recently got divorced and his wife got the house and wants his 120 gal tank out of her basement...she was going to sell me the entire setup for $300 and I thought I better ask him first...come to find out all he wants to get rid of are the fish which he said I can have.

He has 16 Tropheus Moorii Ilangi which when I was over there the other day were displaying the "flutter" meaning they are breeding. I haven't got my 55 gallon up and running yet and am trying to determine the best way to make the transfer go smooth without losing any fish...maybe I should pump water from his tank into mine.

Anyway...are there any other Ilangi keepers here?

These fish are no different than any other troph when moving. You need to take filter media from the current tank and use in the new setup. Also want to use Prime instead of just chlorine remover. I would setup the tank get the temp stable... run for a day, then move the fish and filter media over...

watch for bloat...

if you are neighbors then the water coming out of the tap should be the same unless he added any buffers, the safest bet is to barrow all his filters and bring most of the water to your house also barrow the heater, and if possible if you could ask for the same fish food, other that that it is straight forward, I have kept them in a sixty gallon tank with out problems as long as you have enough fish.

Nice looking fish...how many do you have in your 6ogal? It looks like you have a thick background in your tank too which I wont have so chances are that mine will actually have more room
