Got 6 of these awesome little buggers, firecracker coloring, a few weeks ago. Just wondering what everyone feeds them. Right now they are getting Omega One Veggie Flakes 3 times a day and San Fransico Bay Emerald Entre frozen food 3-4 times a week. Hows that?

sounds good but ive heard some bad things about SF bay brands foods. mostly indigestible fillers

frozen food..? y supose that are proteins high right..?
well try to avoid any carnivor diet, since tropheus are very sensible to what they eat, and water conditions, but mostly to what they eat. a high proteins food can cause bloat on tropheus.
there are some frozen food recepies for vegetarian fish that you can DIY

good luck one those great fish..!

What size tank do you have them in and what tankmates do you have? Most people (unless very experienced with cichlids) don't have much luck keeping Tropheus in anything besides species tanks, and then having rather large groups as well (12+ fish). I know a lot of guys using NLS for their Tropheus with great success.

right now i have 6 in a 40 breeder and plan on getting 6 more after christmas. I have been keeping cichlids for abotu 15 years now and i am just tired of the big americans and malawis. Converting all tanks but a 120g Mbuna breeding project into tang and american dwarves, like aspistos, rams, and such. What about kiwi, cucumber and other vegetables. I know it is bad for them to have lots of protein so i am very cautious in what i am going to feed them when they get bigger.
