I work at the LFS that I get all my rift lake guys from because we specialize in african cichlids. On a stroke of luck I got to bring home a nice 6in tropheus moliro that outgrew someones tank, and the best part about people bringing in these big fish is us employees have the option of taking them home free of charge before they're priced for sale in the store! Anyways, i threw him in with my haps and peacocks plus some misc. tanganyikans hoping like heck that he'd work out because he's beautiful, but i do know these fish have a rep. for bad temper. He seems docile enough, but i'm afraid i'll leave one day and come home to a tank full of dead fish and one pleased tropheus. Anyone know if theres a chance he'll start showing alot of aggression once he gets used to my tank? Thus far he hasn't even attempted defending himself against the pointless nips of my smaller fish.

Mike's right they tend to only kill each other not other fish. I have one overly aggressive male that was given to me. I threw him in the mbuna tank and he took it over. He can easily hold his own again my mbuna. It also helps that they have the same dietary needs.

I have a female Tropheus dubois and she doesn't bother anything. I realize males will probably be more aggressive but she's probably the most docile fish in my cichlid tank.
