If you had to pick three types of Tropheus to go into a 150 gallon what would you choose? I am trying to pick the best variety of colors and attitudes to put into a new tank.

I know I am going to have some Syn. petricola and some Eretmodus cyans but I just cant decide how which 3 types of tropheus I want to put in!

150 tall or long? mixing tropheous can get messy. I typically wouldn't I'd recommend a school of one type. If you are sure you want to mix do only one of each species. be aware that one per species will make them more aggressive towards tankmates. I personally love These:

tropheous bemba
tropheus duboisi(what I currently keep)
Tropheus moorii Bulu Point "Cherry Spot"

Good luck.

150 Long - I planned on having at least 10-12 juvi's in each group, would this be a problem? The breeder I am getting them from said it would not be an issue to have three types in the same tank because it is a larger tank.

My wife wants different colors in the tank so she did not want to just have one type of fish in there but the more I read and gather information it looks like Tropheus are best kept at one type in a tank.

Now i love the cherry spots the most, but kaisers definitly take the cake over the duboisi! just my two cents.... OOOO ya do some research cause tropheus are a challange as it is, but mixing species thats a risk ....

You can't beat the moorii llangi for color! The duboisi are a must also, they sure are cute when they are juveniles!

I'd start with more like 20 each to get a good final ratio. Some will die; some will have to be removed due to aggression. With a start of 20, you'll probably end up with an adult group of about 12, which is pretty ideal for a small group. Start with only 12 and you'll end up having to buy more at some point to fill in the group.

No expert on mixing them, but definitely don't include and sp. red as they will interbreed with anything but duboisi.

Not to sound sarcastic, but did the breeder inform you that trops can hybridize?
