I have around a 9” gar that I am growing out for my large tank. He usually eats the jumbo krill but lately he tries to catch the food but misses and will eventually give up. Any tips for helping him eat or food options?

I’d say it’s always had a slight opening but over the last two to three months it’s got worse. I am not sure what would cause that
It appears to have a few deformities, the mouth being the worst for quality of life. Monitor how it it trying to eat, is it just picking at things off the bottom? Still striking but failing to grab etc. Gar are very resilient and can go a long time without eating i'm sure you'll figure out a way to adapt the feeding to suit it.
