I usually don't write posts of this type but, TUIC has the best price on tropical gars (Atractosteus tropicus) I've ever seen in the last 40 plus years. 17-18" for $100.00.

For those who don't know...Tropical gars are rarely available smaller versions of the gator gars. With a 4ft max length, their more likely to be able to spend a full life in a monster tank than their 14ft+ US cousins.

Jesus, that's a really good deal. £50 or so, unbelievable price.

I'd expect an 18 inch florida or spotted to be that price.

Wow...I don't think I've ever seen one for sale before.

Nice pickup Phil!.....$100 is a great price...I've seen ones around here for double the price and they're half the size.

These have been offered only once before in the US by Shark aquarium. The fish George was offering were Mexican aquacultured fish from stock obtained in the tabasco region. I personally own five of these fish. Jeff is offering Nicaraguan fish which may be a bit different.

Tropical gars are by far the best suited gar to captivity as they stay relitivily small and do not not have a Psycho need to bounce off glass walls. They are also very easy to feed and accept a wide range of foods right out of the bag.
