I just got my first Flagtail at 3-4 inches, and i have trouble getting it to eat. the flagtail is always swimming against the glass tank and acts healthy (not shy or stressed), but i can see that it is getting thinner. Its been 3 days and i havent seen it eat. I have tried massivore sinking pellets, live blackworms, frozen krill/bloodworms, floating pellets, flakes, algae disc, and a leaf lettuce. STILL no result.

could it be that the flagtail is still getting comfortable with the new surroundings?

I dont want to lose it and i plan on growing it out. any help is appreciated.
anyone with flagtail experience could chime in, Please...

If your worried about it eating I would try some brine shrimp. Mine will eat everything you have listed but they seem to be a bit far sighted when it comes to food so I would just keep at it. I would really get worried if it isn't eating after about 5 days. You could check with where ever you got the fish as to what it was eating and try that.

They "mouth" the sides of the tank and decor eating algae etc. Normally they will take flake but some foods are hard for them to eat due to the design of their mouth. I would give him some time.

I had one that quickly grew to about 14". He kept my large tank algae free. I'm actually in the process of acquiring another one because they are so useful. Good luck.

Mine only went after biofilm of algae and other things on surfaces for a little while. He soon also moved to algae based foods and wasn't growing much. After a couple months, he discovered krill and other higher protein things and had a growth spurt.

It may still be getting used to the tank. He should eventually eat basically anything (but hopefully not slimecoat if you have anything slow with him)
