.
hi im having trouble finding a canister filter for a 250 gal tank! any suggestions!

The Fluval FX5 is supposed to move 900 g.p.h. and (according to thier advertising) is suitable for tanks up to 400 Gallons. I think they run around 300-350 dollars. I have no idea how well (or crappy) they work.

Howdy,

I run an Eheim 2080 on my 220 gal, it works very well (just add some filter floss to the standard filter pads). Another (possibly better) option is the Eheim 2260  You will also hear recommendations for the FX-5. I recommend an MFK search on these filters, they have been discussed excessively. You will mostly notice differences in biocapacity and flow rate among these three.

could always also get one of those large pond filters. make sure you get one that works off a syphon hose and has a return hose rather then the waterfall type that you have to have in the pond.

Ship it to me and i'll build a beautiful filtration sytem and send you pics of how happy you've made me :) :D

i personally use 2 canister filter 1 is a penn plex 1500 the other is a jebo 838 on my 180 they seem to work fine

I would suggest a wet/dry:)

Not sure why you would have trouble finding one - stick with the fluval FX5 if you want a suggestion. They are priced well under $300 these days - even as low as $210

Lots of posts on this filter - all positive too

:iagree: wet/dry specially if it's a DIY would cost you less than or almost the same as a canister filter. best of all... it is more efficient and effective in cleaning your tank. but if you don't want to have a wet/dry.. i would go for xp3..maybe 3 of them... it's on sale at Dr. Foster and Smith for 89.99!!! you can't beat that price!!!:D
