I bought a 4-5 inch flagtail four days ago now and I am having trouble getting him/her to eat. I have put in the frozen veggie cube. I grew algae before I put it in the tank and I have even tried algae pellet. Any idea of what I might want to try?

i had three of them never had any luck i couldnt get them to eat either awsome fish but they had me stumped i tried blood worms and pelets veggies you name it i always wanted to try the algae sheets you feed to tangs in a salt aquarium

I honestly thought about it too with the sheets. If he does not eat soon I am hoping he goes before my 14 day guarantee is up lol. Sucks to say but he was $30 bucks.

Hey try bloodworms.

Where can you get them, because i'm having trouble finding some. If anyone knows a site I could order from that would be awsome. Just post it on my message board in case I forget to check this thread.

Thank you

Tried blood worms. Wanted none of it. Check Fish Room Plus. I know he had some that he offered me.

Its sad to say, but some FF just wont eat when theyre still colorless and young- but yours could pull it off(heheh) and start eating because hes already got some size on him-I watched my first one just wither away and this is all happening while trying every flake, pellet, FD everything, fresh and frozen worms(earth, blood, black) shrimp, fish, peas, zuchini, it took around two weeks- so Id tape that receipt to the tank and on day 13 bring it back and ask to see the exchange fish eat- good luck

i just got a flag tail 2 inches, he sucks on rocks, wood and gravel. i just dump in a bunch of food that drops to bottom and he eats it. i use african sinking pellets, sinking algae wafers, and floating bloodworms. i got a dirty tank so theres plenty of food for him to eat.

Try spirulina flakes. Mine loved them. I got him at 2 inches and at 15 inches he outgrew his 70 gallon and I got really good trade in value on him. He went in someones 500 gallon and is still there today 10 years later.
