Trouble shooting Ehiem Classic 2217

Today while doing one of my water changes i decided to clean out my ehiem. When i went to hook it back up it just made a loud click/knocking noise and wasnt doing a thing. I took it back out check all the fittings to make sure they were tight looked at the directions and they told me to take apart a certain part and clean it so i did that and still nothing. It has a 2yr warranty and ive only had it for a year so I guess i can always send it back and i have an Fx-5 hooked up also. So for now im not to worried but its still less filtration on my 120g. Does any one have any suggestions?

Did you prime the filter with water per the instructions?

i actually got it working but it took me atleast two hours of taking it apart and putting it back together and playing with it. I actually primed it twice and took it apart and then primed it again and it worked. thanks though
