I rescued the shark from a 20 gal tank a few months ago and put it in a
spare 46gal bowfront I have. He is about 10"-12" inches and is VERY skiddish.

When I do a water change or get too close to him he flips out and starts banging his nose against the glass. To the point where he has damaged the skin, and it will not heal because this behavior occurs often

I think it would be best to give him up since he will just outgrow the tank soon anyway, but for now is there anything I can do to help him?

Anyone in the NJ area looking for a new tank member? Besides the damaged skin on his nose he is healthy, active, and eats like a champ!

Thanks

it might be skittish because your tank is to small for it

ID's are known to be skittish. They need large tanks. Add salt to your water changes to help the healing process. ID seem to thrive and heal on salt. They also hate changes. My big guy would get mad if I changed the tank decor. He would try to put them back, or push them around till I put them back in the same place. Funny fish.

i just rescued a mammoth 26 incher!He was in ruff shape but clean water,space,and salt and he looks soooo much better.He looks so happy in the 450 gal,he was in a 75 before:{

ID Sharks get huge! My suggestion to you is put him in the 90.

Put him in as big a tank as possible. They are constant swimmers and need unobstructed swimming space. Your 46 is too small. The 90, in my opinion, is/ will soon be as a 120 was too small for my Albino ID when it was 10-12in.
