My blacks breathing is heavy and his appetite is off. Two days ago after eating shrimp i noticed it ,he is eating but not as usual .water is good but the hardness is at 0 .I added salt and black water did water change. any advise?

It was shelled prawn and he has eaten a silver side and a few pellets so i don't think so. could it be water hardness?all other fish seem fine.

it seems really stressed out. it's okay if they don't eat for a couple days... you'll be amazed how long they can go without food.

what size tank is it in? what kind of tankmates? make sure that the fish isn't getting scared of the surroundings... inside and outside the tank.

i know that my black is VERY skittish and will still freak out on me once in a while even if i just pass by. It usually doesn't eat after a scare.

Its a 240g i am not wearied about starvation its the heavy breathing that i am concerned about don't think its tank mate stress Ive had him jump out and still eat the next day .He is in with a c knife, ornate b black ghost. he has ben fine for almost a year .I am keeping the lights off only moon lights, any ideas?filtration fx5 pro3

you need to read the thread that talks about sudden aro death...

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77774

I had 2 12 inch blacks die before I read that thread...Now I know better. I don't want to scare you but if this continues and he starts to swim funny then he is in trouble...

I no longer feed shrimp or anything frozen that could possible puncture my aro's organs. Hikari food sticks for him...

Good Luck

thats rediculous

theres no solid proof as to what kill levi's aro, its all speculation. so it really doesnt help at all, sound likes like your just paranoid.

Every aro that I've had goes through spells where they just don't want to eat. If it is swimming/acting/looking normal I wouldn't be too concerned. If it's gasping hard and losing color I would be worried.
