My smaller indo isn't looking so hot.

He has always been the runt of the pack. However, he's usually pretty feisty, eats well, just doesn't seem to go crazy after pellets like the rest of them. His diet is mostly made up of tilapia and shrimp.

He's about 8" inches now so I was being stubborn and only feeding the tank pellets trying to get him to accept them more willingly.

After a couple of days, I noticed him sitting on the bottom, not really swimming, just resting.

I keep up with my water changes and haven't noticed any other fish acting strange, but still, the tank is full of predators with large appetites so I know my nitrates are a bit high, around 40ppm or so.

The next day he was doing the same thing so I took him out of the tank and put him in quarantine. Raised the temp to around 82-84 degrees and added salt. He eats just fine...gets really excited when I come to the tank...however, when I'm not around, he just sinks back to the bottom and some times even leans against the side of the tank.

Any advice?

if you have him inhis own seperate tank, your doing everything you can, i would just give him whatever he will eat at this point. heres hoping he comes back to health :(

I hope.

He ate about 5-6 whole silversides tonight. He eats like a champ, just seems lazy.

I don't see that There is any thing wrong with yourfish. I think it can be normal for a tiger To sometimes lay on it side. Though none of mine did this once they were past 6-7 inch size... It's eating so that's good.

U mentionhe didn't eat pellets after 2 days. Chances are he won't eat pellets for 3-4 weeks before he's converted. Maybe longer.

Nothing wrong your fish. Chuck him back in the main tank.

^Most of the indos that I've kept have behaved that same way.

He's hanging out in my 210g now with my baby marble motoro, juvie orino and a lima shovelnose.

He still gets excited to eat and swims all around when I come to the tank, begging for food. I've seen him chase both the lima and orino around the tank. But he still doesn't float like normal. He literally sits on the bottom and leans against the side of the tank.

I think it may be a swim bladder issue, but its been a month and he's still kicking. Other than laying on the bottom and leaning on the side, he seems just fine. I posted in the diseases forum and Lupin can't figure it out either.
