I'm still trying to get my 220 up and going, and I've built the standpipes for my overflows, but I have a problem, the silicone isn't sticking well to the PVC. Is there andthing else I can seal it with, or should I just really goop it on?

a 2 part epoxy would hold it very well, but it would be permanent. If thats not a problem i would say go for it.

Thanks! I was thinking about epoxy, but wasn't sure if it was 100% safe. I'll give it a shot tonite.

Yeah, but I was trying to bond the pvc to the hole in the glass, not pipe tp pipe. No problems with the pipe bonding. Got the standpipe bonded and it's holding well:)

The company didn't drill the holes in the bottom exactly as I wanted them, so I had to modify and make my own fitting

they sell some reef safe epoxies for making rock arrangements some regular epoxies are toxic

I looked all over for specific reef-safe, and couldn't find any. My plan is to epoxy it, then put a layer of silicone over it. Before, it did seal the pvc and the glass together, it was just real loose and wasn't holding ver strong because of the leverage of the stand pipe, so I'm going to seal it up over that to ensure that my fishies are safe.
