Hi, I just recently moved my little motoro into my 120. Its tankmates are two smaller Senegal bichirs and a large weeksii. The weeksii is quite large and every feeding keeps grabbing my ray by the disc, hes got a little piece missing now it keeps getting worse. I was told I would be able to keep them in the same tank but I'm not sure if this is possible. Anyone know if my weeksii just has to get used to the ray, they have only been together for 3 days, or if its just going to get worse and one of them should be removed?

Ever heard of Polys eating ray eyeballs? I have. The ray had to be put down.

After that I don't think I'd ever keep a Poly period.

No, I've never heard of that. Its not something I would like to experience. One of them will be moved tonight, thanks.

Strange to hear this. Learn something every day i guess. I read a while back about a small pup geting torn up by a large Birchir but on the other hand have seen many many photos over the years of tanks with rays and Birchirs in. I keep 5 large birchirs all over 10" mark with 5 rays. 4 rays over 12" and one 8". Never had any issues. All feed together quite happily.

I couldn't believe it either.... And I had a monster Ornate in my pond at the time.

A buddy came home to Retic with no eyes, only had Polys in there with it. Believe they were smaller then the ray. I think it's the lil guys you gotta worry about. Pretty sure his were Senegals.

I know people mix them all the time with no issues, but his experience was enough to keep me from them.
