I just purchased a tiger datnoid, under 2 inches, and put him in a 50 gallon breeder. At the same time, I added an electric blue jack dempsey, a julidochromis regani, a melanochromis auratus, a pseudotropheus demasoni??, and 4 synodontis petricolas. The datnoid is probably the largest fish of them all. The tank has been up and running for around 8 months, just restocking, and the levels are fine. My problem is the datnoid is the only fish that isn't eating, and it's been 4 days since they were all added. I'm feeding flakes. Since he was getting picked on, I moved him to a 10 gallon containing 3 goldfish in fear he wouldn't make it in the 50 gallon. Only minor injuries. He is very sluggish, just sitting at the bottom, moving occasionally. Any sugestions???

Get some blackworms. If not try bloodworms or cut up raw shrimp. All fails you might have to do guppies. Some dats are a pain to get off live.

Try sinking carnivore pellets, frozen bloodworms, market shrimp, or cut up tilapia. Avoid feeding live for as long as you can stand it. Once on live it'll be EXTREMELY difficult to modify the diet.

I've never seen even the smallest datnoid be willing to eat flakes.

Thanks for the advice. He had a burial at sea this morning :( He must have been really stressed, because I've only had him 5 days and my other fish are doing great.
