My 4.5" IT has been constantly and regularly scratching itself against the gravel and decor ever since it arrived. Of course, I immediately suspected ich, but it has never shown any sign of ich, or any other disease, for that matter. No white spots, no nothing on the IT's body. It's also eating well (too well, actually). The tank is planted and mildly brackish, and its tankmates are:

One 5" Nandus nandus (which is also not eating)
One 6" Channa lucia
One 3" Crenicichla sp. "Xingu I"

What the hell is wrong?

Thanks in advance.

NGT and AT can be found in brackish waters in the wild, not IT, ST, or NTT they are completely fresh.

is ur IT breathing heavy?? the rubbing u mentioned... i heard something about gill fluke...does ur IT also dart around the tank? if so do a lrg w/c, add ur aquarium salt and raise temp... if this is not, the dat guru's will correct me... good luck...

raising the temp. and adding some aquarium salt usually helps

It isn't breathing heavily. It also doesn't dart around, not really (well maybe it does sometimes, what exactly do you mean by "dart"?). There is a lot of aquarium salt in the tank already, that's what's making the water lightly brackish. I did a water change this morning, and it became more active, but the scratching didn't go away. Also, the 3" Crenicichla sp. "Xingu I" is also scratching. It was NOT scratching while at the LFS I bought it from. No other fish in the tank is scratching.
