Hiya guys, i bought a small black oscar today and since i brought him home the troubles started... The second i put him in my tank he turned from black to grey/pinkish shade and (however it sounds) he looks quite sad... Hes swimming around and eating his food, but im not sure.. Its not that i dont want him or anything, but it would be cruel to keep him if hes unhappy.. Is changing color normal? Shall he be that color? My water is exactly the same temperature as in the tank in the shop... Does it matter what other fish im keeping?

need more info on your tank, size etc.

Yes tankmates are important. Which and if.

His colourchanging is naturally. He's scared right now.
Give him some days, and he'll be all over the tank!

My little Oscar went from black/orange to white when he layed his eyes on my RB Pacu for the first time!

the tank is 80 liters, about 30 inches long, gravel-shells-stones bottom, temperature is stable 27 degrees Celsius and ph is 7.0...

Oscar wants to be 13" in about two years.
Gotta size up soon.

And also i have blue gourami, tiger barb, 2 small cichlids (that i kinda cant identify :( ), dalmatian molly, bala shark, placo, 2 tiny alg eaters and red platie...

Try lowering your pH... Mine was 7.0 and My oscars did not like that one bit, now it is 6.7 and they are happy as clams....
also you will eventually have to get a larger aquarium

hell be fine as long as no one can eat him he might just be stressed from the transport good luck color change is normal specially when put into a new tank with new tank mates

Thats my point... i got him as a bday prezzie from me to me, but my local LFS's knowledge is i guess on my level ( = proper beginner). I build the tank with my fiance, i guess we gonna need more glass then soon....
