i have been running an xp1 on a 45 gallon and it has been a nightmare. My water is never clear. I have a submersible for a ten gallon just to somewhat try and help but no luck. So many floating particles...i can literally see them float past the intake tube. So my question is...If i switched over to an xp3, would I see a much better result concerning intake and suction?

I see the same thing with my XP3 (floating particles). I'm not impressed in the least with it.

I love my XP3's. I also have an XP2 that works great on my 75g; along with
an AC110. AC filters are great.
Hey Rallysman, I am still waiting for your XP3. Send it here.:cool-1:

Returned the xp1 and bought the xp3....these things are horrible :swear: Same result....i have lost all confidence in rena filters.

Are you using the polishing pad? They clog up quickly and are a pain if your tank is stocked heavily.

Canisters really arn't the best for mech filtration IMO. Snag an emperor 400/AC110 to compliment eachother. Not to mention no tank should have only one filter for biological filtration.

I run a XP3 (with prefilter, no polishing pad) and two Emperor 400's on a 75 gallon pleco tank and the water is always clear, it was also clear before I added the 2nd 400.

ill just pick up an emp400 tonight im sure it will work as i have heard very good things about them. Thanks for the help

you need to buy polyester fiber for 2 bucks in walmart in art and craf department and put it in one of the baskets, it polishes water :cool-1: :cool-1: :cool-1: :cool-1:

another question would be what are you stocking in your tank? possible overcrowding?
