Anybody give or have experience with Aqua Max/ Purina trout food? Massivores are my fishes main diet as of thus far, and are great, but are getting very pricey as the fish are getting bigger. I just threw one trout chow pellet in the tank, and the big dat took it. At my LFS, its 2.49 lb for trout chow, compared to 30 for just over a pound of Massivores.

Why don't you use market shrimp? Its around 2-3 dollars a pound

I used to use market shrimp, but I didnt see much growth with it. I prefer pellets. The young datnoids I have trained on pellets are growing extremely fast compared to my big dats which I raised on bloodworms and market shrimp.

As you live in the US you can get massive cheap

About $40 for 2.2 lb bags you don't want to live in the UK it's £24 for the med size bags 360g

Hoist do what I do buy lots of different pellets and mix them in one bag my mix at the moment is

Hikari massive
Hikari sinking cichlid gold med size pellets
Hikari sturgeon which is the same as sinking carnivor but much cheaper

Thanks for the info. Right now I do feed a variety of pellets, but my dats around 9" will hardly look at small pellets anymore:headbang2
