Does anyone use trout or salmon food for their cichlids? The nutrient content is pretty similar and a 40# bag is pretty cheap. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

who makes it? I picked up a 10lb bag of purina big game fish food at the last auction for $1 and I'd never dare to feed it to my fish lol. Who knows whats in it. I use it to feed the fish in my girlfriends natural pond.

I am only looking at it online. They don't have an ingredient list online. I imagine if I were to buy it, it would be packaged with one. I just thought it might be an economical way to feed. A forty pound bag is like $30. I may try to call the manufacturer and see if they will email me an ingredient list. My Dad used to work at a trout farm part time after he retired. He says there were no hormones in the feed they used.

are her fish ok? if yes, then you can try it on your fish

It tends to be very messy and greasy, to the point where there is an oil film on top of the water. Tough to keep the tank clean.
