Has anyone ever built a trout tank. Im talking about a tank that would hold like a native Brook Trout witch is smaller than hatcherie brookies. Ive cought many natives and always wanted a tank dedicated to them. The tank would have to have very good water movment and filtration. Anybody do a setup like this yet.

i thought about, but i didnt want to spend tons on a chiller. i think they were like 1500 for one the size i needed

Whould a chiller be a must tho cuz in the summer those stream and ponds that they still are laying in are not to cold. I know what you mean tho, when i think trout i think cool, clear and well oxygenated water.

Yeah, actually water temperature is a big factor in why brookie populations have been declining. They much prefer the spring fed streams that stay cooler. I'd think it would be good to keep the water temp in the low 60's, I've heard even colder is better.
