I got this 4" last week and mesmerized by it's albino'ism. Eyes pink/red and powder white. I've seen many white giant gouramy (20 plus) in my day and all are black eyes as if they are not true albino. Is it common, uncommon, or rare? Can anyone here chime in on this as not much info is on this gouramy topic? Wasn't able to find adult specimen with Albino traits either. Thanks all!

Too add. Most info I've kinda gathered are from overseas. Are there U.S. owners who know about this albino trait as well? Also, to throw in a little personal history on this species. I had a gray one this size and it ballooned to 13" and needless to say, no longer in my possession.

actually here in the philippines i can say its not that rare although very few of fish keepers here that youd see them very seldom, thats because of the price.....the most rare here is the red tail giant gourami... i just got 1 grey and 1 albino giant gourami this afternoon..if the fish is rare here in the phil. it will cost them a lot for sure..

the albino version is probably more common then the grey versions these days. ive got one my aunty looks are and it is almost or is 40 years old, great fish with personality.

Yup vonace is right since were from the same country. Right now i own 2 of them. Care is the same as all oaphronemus goramys. They grow fast and are tough fishes.

Seriously though.Nice fish and Nice GG

A good 8" now. His feelers are split into two, so will end up with 4. In the pic you'll see 2 on the right side. The other side is growing and will fuse next to the left feeler.
