Just saw a pleco at LFS listed as a True Blue Panaque. Anyone know anything about them. This one was 4-5 inches long and they wanted $70 for it.

That's a little pricy for a L239 (Ancistrini sp.). But, they're not too common in the market so it may be worth it in the long run. Don't confuse this with the 'blue-eye' plec. (C. suttoni). Nice looking cat in a dark-substrate tank. The blue becomes more pronounced once they've aged and settled in the tank.

I have 2 at home and they are beautiful. we sell them for $59.95.

I don't think prices have gone that high. I've been seeing them for $29.95-39.99 around here.

:iagree: with the hardiness factor. I've seen them withstand biblical plagues of ich and they always acclimate well here.

that one in the left pic looks really nice...i have never seen those and they are cool lookin... with my lack of self control i would have just said "screw it 70 bucks for a fish why not?" but thats just me and the fact that i have never seen one.

They aren't too uncommon. Nice little fish, but is a bit pricey compared with over here.

Thanks for the info. Managed to resist, for now. Also had a 6-7 inch Adonis pleco, which I had heard of but never seen, for $60. Unfortunately it had been there a while and was dead. Real shame because it was a nice looking fish.
