True fish filter

After four hours of cleaning the fishes are a lot more active. Pumped out 6" of mud and dead fishes.

Just wonder how is it called a filter when the filter itself is producing waste

The vault is not suppose to have fish in it but whether the koi is in the pond or in the vault the waste is the same. Maybe you didn't get the humor in the title.

Seems the filter was lacking in maintenance, not a uncommon occurrence to find fish that slip into filters as fry.

Actually the pond is fully of baby kois as well. They know about the kois in the filter. Two years ago I had to remove 700 unwanted kois. Lack of regular maintenance is for sure. They don't even check for dead fish in the pump basket. Some people.
