True Parrots weird behavior......(Pics)

So my true parrot pair have been preparing to mate as they have been moving sand continuously for the past week. I just cleaned the tank and did a water change and hooked them up with a bed of rocks in their layer. As soon as i did that they started locking lips. This behavior continued for about 45 mins. Is this how they mate??? The female took a pretty good beating. Please, I need some answers! lol

As long as one doesn't turn tail and run then its normal breeding behavior. If one decides to run then you might need to separate them to prevent them getting beat up.
