That's a Florida, unless your friend knows for sure that it was collected from the wild, outside of Florida. If he bought it from a pet store, than it is a Florida, not whatever they said.

yes, the gar in question is a Florida gar with a damaged back. the comment on the later pics...hard to say when we can't see the head of the fish. but as conner mentioned, unless he has locality data on it, i would say there's a 99% chance it's a Florida as well--
