Rhamphichthys rostratus....We got one of these in a couple weeks or so ago at the lfs where I work. I know our history with them and they just whither away in a store tank....too busy and not enough cover I think. SO, I brought this one home to my 56column well planted tank. He is more active then he was at work but I have never seen him eat. I have had him about 4 days and I offer the tank dry food in the evening and f/t bloodworm and brine in the morning. I am thinking I might want to offer the frozen stuff in the evening before lights out just so the knife gets some, since he doesn't seem to even look in the mornings. Anyone successful with these guys? What worked? TIA

sorry i have no expeirence with these nor have i seen one in person...if you get the chance post a pic and i hope you get him to eat...good luck

Ok, well, a Trumpet may not qualify as monster but any other forum is worthless for info. They are kinda like Elephantnose. This one is 11 or so inches. AND I think I saw him foraging this morning!! Not just looking for a place to hide but rooting up food. YES:WHOA:
Now if I can attach a pict..

OH, I get it. All show....so, okay the first is Animal, Freshwater Lion/Toadfish....about 7 or 8 inches, had since he was 3, then my Adonis pleco, about 6...had him since he was 2 and then the knife. The second really is his head in the weeds.

bloodworms and brine are gobbled and feed at night

not "kinda like an elephant nose"... totally different.

I have kept a knife very similar to that long term... try live blackworms. typical soft / low pH water. Your tank looks like has lots of good hiding spaces, etc....

I think you are on the right track... try live black worms, feed after the light is off, feed near where the bugger is hiding, so womrs drop down by his face.

Thanks. I have got some live black worms at work so will bring some home. And I meant kinda like as for behaviour........at least I didn't compare it to a Pacu.
