has anyone here heard of TRUVU Aquariums? and know if they are any good? any help would help

TRUVU has been around for a really long time. I remember in the early 80s my buddy had a 150 gal TRUVU with rounded corners. We thought it was huge at the time.

I have had a 270G and a 100G and currently have a custom 70G built by them and I was/am happy with the tanks.

If you are wondering whether they are a reputable builder, I would say that they are. They have been around for a long time and have built many tanks. I can't speak to their customer service because all of my tanks were bought 2nd hand. I hope it works out for the guy in the thread referenced above...it sounds like TruVu agreed to send him a new tank so that's a good sign. Things happen, but it's whether or not a company stands behind their product that matters.

I had heard that they relocated (they used to be based out of Northern CA), so hopefully they aren't having quality control issues as a result of the move.

They are still in NorCal.

I ordered my tank from them close to two years ago. I would say quality wise they are decent, the reason I went with them is because my local fish shop was one of their distributors.

The only complaint I have is that the wait time is long. I ordered in aug and received the tank at end of oct. good thing is that I only paid a deposit until the delivery of the tank. That is with the lfs, you may have to pay in full if you order directly.

Met the owner of truvue. Nice guy, but a little overworked because it is just down to him and a helper. He was hoping Internet will bring him new business and I hope his margin is decent enough to allow him to hire more guys than 2 years ago.

@ecoli, why such a long wait, did you get a custom size?

@op, I bought an old used 180G. don't know the age of it. I couldn't afford to even think about a new one. It is holding fine ;-) no panel explosions or anything.

No, just a 300 tall. The long wait is due to for lfs orders, they tend to do it in batches...my order got caught in between.

Not a very good excuse but I was not in a hurry so I let it slide.

ecoli, your wait wasn't too bad, it took me longer than that to get a used acrylic, being so far from cities.
how thick are your panels, and did you get the standard or ask for thicker?
