Hey all, I have wanted an arowana for ages now, and my LFS finally got some nice specimens in. I picked up one silver arowana, and am housing him for the time being in my 100gal tank. I plan on upgrading to a 240 when I can find one for a decent price, or get back to my regular job, whichever comes first! I am trying to get a few pics of him, but he's still kind of skittish. Here are my first 2 attempts (sorry for the quality, iPhone pics).

I think that if you use the 100gal tank as a grow out tank for it you'll be fine, but beware, they grow fast! and they get to be about 3ft long when fully grown! i think for about 6 months to a year you'll be fine with that 100gal tank and hopefully by then you've upgraded to that 240!

Nice, looks to be a silver aro. As mentioned above they grow quite large and a 240g tank will be a bit cramped for it once it grows beyond 24".

sounds like this aro is living the life! congrats. For a first time aro owner you are doing a bang up job.

GOOD LUCK! i had a little silver but it jumped out of my grow out one night after just 3 weeks, it was a smallll little 2"x4" cut out for the filter on my grow out:( so just honestly make sure you have a good lid, they are notorious jumpers

Well, I was able to get some clearer (slightly) pictures of my little guy, although There's still quite a bit of reflection due to where the tank sits. He is an absolute piglet! lol, I tried putting a dozen rosy reds in there so he could snack at his leisure, but he polished em off in 3 days.

Today I also added a Tiger shovelnose catfish, about 6" long at the moment. I need to re do the aquascape in the tank and get rid of some of the lava rock (this used to be a kigoma frontosa tank) I'll have to do some browsing to see what kind of set up I should go for!
