We are trying to breed some kapampa frontosa will a 90 gallon tank be big enough for a pair or trio? Also are there any other tricks we need to know.

I've heard that a colony of one or two males and multiple females is best. I've never bred fronts but was recently considering doing a colony in a 180. Decided not to but learned a lot in the process. Why Kapampa? Are you looking to sell them? Are you going to get wild breeders?

We got a super deal on them but lost 1 and the 4th was getting beat up so we moved it. We also want sell some of the fry we hope to raise, as these are f1's.

We have a 6ft 120 we can move them into I agree that would be better. The 90 was the only option then. Should they be kept in low light or will that matter.

Other than a bigger tank are there any other tips anyone might have.
I am also thinking of putting 2 caves in the 120 is that a good idea or not.

Sounds like a good idea to me, frontosas love lots of rocks and rock formations. I hope you know it will take 3 to 4 years for them to reach sexual maturity. Once they've matured, they will develop a pronounced hump on their heads. I also read its best to have four females for each male

Heres a website that may help you also,

Our fronts are mature about 8in for the maleand 6in for the females. The male has some of the longest fins I have ever seen on a fish only thing is he is very dark colored. The females are showing way more blue is this normal.
